Lesions arising from these structures called A·C·Ps can be excised during a Caldwell-Luc procedure. The semilunar hiatus connects a group of these structures to the middle meatus (“mee-AY-tuss”). Titanium plates replace the anterior wall of one of these structures in a type three contour reduction performed in some F·F·S operations. One of these structures can unnaturally connect to the (*) mouth to form an oro·antral communication following an improper molar extraction. These structures, named according to the bones they are found in, have sphenoidal, (10[1]-5[1])ethmoid, maxillary, and frontal types.
